I know, I know! I haven't written in quite a while but I don't really feel like putting my problems and life out there for everyone else to stomach. I have decided to have only one cook in the kitchen for now and see how things turnout. (cuz we all know that too many cooks in the kitchen is bad!!)
So I have decided that because one of my favorite things to do is eat and I love talking about food and cooking, etc - I'm transforming my blog to one all about food! (slight credit to be given to Hungry-girl.com) I'm going to discuss things that I have cooked (regardless of the turnout), places I have eaten at and drinks I have tried.
Today is going to be a wrap up of the week so far - what I have cooked and where I have eaten!
Monday after work, I went on a 3.5 mile walk up by the hospital and decided to cook myself something delish and low fat to stay to make the workout worthwhile. So I know how to prepare egg drop soup like the back of my hand now - so delish and so easy, I whipped up some of that. Then to stay on the Asian kick I made myself a piece of tilapia that I place in a foil pack with soy sauce, garlic, a little olive oil, sesame seeds and just a dash of sugar. (didn't have any ginger so I subbed with garlic and sugar). It was amazing! I love how light and flaky tilapia is and I felt full after the meal but not stuffed! Definitely recommend it!
I had a Culver's Cobb salad for lunch on Monday (yes I backtracked, but I didn't want to start it with a downer), and eventho I am now a VIP member of the one on Sunset and get 10% off my meals everytime I go there (and a free dish of ice cream - thx Jimmy!), the salad did not impress me at all. I remember it looking and tasting much better about a year ago, but I don't know what changed. Well for one thing, the chicken is barely chopped through so its a struggle with the plastic knife. And the ham, tomatoes and bacon aren't even cut. So while trying to chop thru all of that, the croutons are getting soggy and lettuce is landing all over my desk. I ate about half and felt satisfied on the hunger level, but definitely not on taste. The blue cheese and avocado were sparse as well and you can never go wrong with me and cheese or me and avocadoes!
Today I walked around downtown Waueksha. I love doing this and will definitely intercede this blog with info about new/different shops in downtown or other amazing finds. (Call me a local townie girl
if you want, but I'm all about supporting the work of a local artist than some overpriced national franchise! "I'm from the country and I like it that way!!!") Anyways, I saw that Neighbor's Social Club has added outdoor seating that looks to be somewhat protected from the elements, so I will definitely have to check that place out again soon. I saw that Chill, a super cute martini and wine bar, is still surviving and I hope to try Ray's on South for a fish fry this Friday.

Ok back to lunch. I finally decided on the ever popular and always yummy in my tummy Rochester De
li. I have had so many of the menu items there and I can't complain about a single thing. Today I had a tuna salad sandwich on wheat bread. The tuna salad is excellent - crisp onion and celery add to the great tuna that is not overdone with mayo at all. In fact, I bet they use less mayo than me and i barely use any. I got the pasta salad on the side and the color threw me off a bit. It was a dark brown color, so I am assuming they used either red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar with the oil. It was absolutely delicious like always. I did get a chocolate dipped peanut butter cookie, but I'm really trying to control myself into not eating it until tomorrow. Probably not! Ha ha.

Ok. That's it for this entry - let me know if you have comments, questions, suggestions of places to try on this journey. Coming up, I'm heading to Grand Cafe Centraal in Bay View tomorrow. I already checked out their beer menu and am so excited for Kasteel Bruin on tap! Friday will hopefully hold thru for Ray's on South and a great fishy fry and maybe a happy hour treat as well!
