United We Dine for United Way In Waukesha County

We are in the final stretch of the #UnitedWeDine campaign for the United Way in Waukesha County. Just two weeks left to eat a great meal and donate to a wonderful organization.

Here are the locations that are left.

11/17 - Dickey's Barbeque Pit New Berlin - I haven't visited one of these yet but my friends are a fan. The offer is good from 3 - 9 pm and you have to mention United Way.

11/18 - Jersey Mike's in Waukesha & Brookfield - If you want a sub with freshly cut meats and cheeses just for you, this place is it! I think I know where my lunch will be Tuesday!

11/19 - Hispania Delafield - introducing the culture of Mexico, Chiapas, and Oaxaca to Delafield - sounds delicious

11/20 - Boneyard Pub & Grille Sussex - you need to bring in the flyer.

11/24 - Rochester Deli - Offer is good on soups ordered this day. This is one of my favorites in downtown Waukesha. Salads, soups, sandwiches, it's all great. And you must have a dessert - may I recommend a lemon bar or chocolate dipped peanut butter cookie.

11/25 - The Chocolate Factory in Waukesha, Elm Grove, Pewaukee and Oconomowoc - Offer good 4 pm - close. What a blast from the past - My mom used to bring me and my brother here all the time. They had blue moon ice cream and I always stared at it but never could order it. The subs were excellent and then I would get butter pecan ice cream for dessert!

11/26 - Moe's Southwest Grill in Pewaukee - Get the chips and queso - it's a must! What a difference from what you will be having the next day for Thanksgiving!

11/28 - Endter's Sports Grill in Hartland - They will make donations from each pizza sold. So if you aren't into the leftovers of Thanksgiving and looking for something different - pizza is perfect!

United We Dine: November

While we are all recovering from a sugar-ladened weekend of Trick or Treating and other Halloween fun, take a break from the sweets and plan yourself some lunch and dinner dates to support United Way's #UnitedWeDine initiative in November.

If you aren't familiar with this program, I'll break it down. United Way in Waukesha County partners with area restaurants in the months of October and November. These partnering restaurants provide United Way in Waukesha County a portion of the sales from the day(s) they chose. Each business can customize exactly how they want their day to work; some restaurants offer a full day percentage of sales and others will offer the proceeds if a special flyer is shown by the customer or the customer mentions United Way when ordering.

Here is a link to the calendar. Remember to read the blue print to make sure you mention or print off the flyer that was requested (if needed) I hope to make it to a few this year and maybe some new ones as well.

11/3 - Buffalo Wild Wings in Pewaukee - perfect to watch the Monday Night Football Game. Offer is good from 4 - 9 pm.

11/4 - Stolley's Hog Alley in Oconomowoc - I was told to try this place for breakfast sometime but looks like this offer is on the daily special only. If I didn't already have plans for this night, I would check it out.

11/5 - Orange Leaf in Waukesha - I LOVE this place and seeing as the frozen yogurt place closer to me closed, I might just have to treat myself to this after work.

11/6 - Hardee's in Delafield - There no longer is one in Waukesha but go for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

11/7 - Yo Mama! Frozen Yogurt in Brookfield, Wauwatosa and Shorewood. If you didn't get to Orange Leaf on Wednesday, or just love Fro-Yo, head to one of these locations and mention United Way.

11/10 - Canyon City Wood Grill & Saloon in Pewaukee - It's been years since I have been here, but now living so close, maybe I can give it another try.

11/11 - The Boneyard Pub & Grill in Mukwonago - I haven't been here but have heard great things. Must show the flyer.

11/12 - The PeachTree Restaurant in New Berlin - Never heard of this place before but I think it took over another restaurant I used to go to with my grandparents a lot.  Gotta order Greek food to donate to United Way.

11/13 - Slim McGinn's Irish Pub in Brookfield - I think I was here once during a snow storm and was just glad we found some place open to eat. Definitely worth a revisit.

11/14 - Denny's on St. Paul in Waukesha - Grand Slam! Valid 8 - 2 pm and 4 - 10 pm.

I hope you can get out and try some of these places and help support United Way in Waukesha County!

United We Dine for United Way #2

The next two weeks of the #UnitedWeDine for United Way campaign have some great restaurants lined up to benefit the United Way.

I was able to enjoy dinner with a friend at Famous Dave's in Waukesha and support United Way in Waukesha. I hadn't been to a Famous Dave's in probably 10 years and it was just as tasty as I remember. You leave stuffed and with leftovers if you are like me, or like my friend and be a member of the completely clean plate club! We really enjoyed ourselves!

From my last post

10/21 - Texas Roadhouse in Waukesha - mention United Way or hand them the flyer. You will not leave hungry as the portions are large and someone I know loves their prime rib!

10/22 - San Laurio Coffeehouse in Muskego. I have been here once before a mother/daughter pedicure date and the Chai was delicious!

10/23 - Applebee's in Pewaukee. Applebee's does a lot of donations to charities and the food is great for the price point. It says to bring in the flyer but I don't see a link to it on United Way's site. Maybe you can mention it?

10/27 - Casa Tequila in Pewaukee. I have yet to go here - Maybe I can get a group together and get some Mexican in our bellies while trying this place not too far from my house.

10/29 - Hispania in Delafield. Menu looks great but I have never heard of this one.

10/30 - Nashotah Clubhouse. Again, I am not familiar with this one.

10/31 - Cafe Esperanza in Waukesha. I have had a lot of their foods for banquets and events and they are donating 100% of the Fish Fry sales to United Way - this is awesome. Unfortunately I'll be out of town, but you all should go. It's not a Friday in Wisconsin without a fish fry!

I hope you can get out and try some of these places and help support United Way in Waukesha County!

United We Dine for United Way

I know I have shared this information with you in past years (here and here) but it's again time for United We Dine: 2014 Edition!

If you aren't familiar with this program, I'll break it down. United Way in Waukesha County partners with area restaurants in the months of October and November. These partnering restaurants provide United Way in Waukesha County a portion of the sales from the day(s) they chose. Here is a run down of the next few weeks so maybe you can plan out a day to participate while eating a great meal at a local establishment.

Today 10/6 - TGI Fridays in Brookfield (show this flyer). This place is currently running an endless appetizer promotion and great drinks. The burgers and pretty ok too!

10/7 - Sprizzo's Gallery Cafe - I love this place and have been here many, many times. The creative soup and sandwiches with the fancy mayos always tempt my tastebuds!

10/8 - Kim's Lakeside in Pewaukee - I keep wanting to check this place out and haven't found time yet.

10/9 - Gyros West Waukesha - I think I might just make this Thursdays lunch! I have been here quite a few times, but doesn't look like I have written about them yet!

10/10 - Uno Pizzeria & Grill, Menomonee Falls - I really miss the Uno's on Bluemound but I'm glad that there is still another location in the area.

10/13 - Famous Dave's Waukesha (show this flyer)- I have a friend that absolutely loves this place. Maybe I'll convince him to get dinner with me that night.

10/14 - Denny's Waukesha - (8 - 2 pm & 4 - 10 pm) - Who doesn't want a Grand Slam?

10/15 - Chuck E Cheese's Brookfield (mention United Way)

10/16 - Trysting Place Pub, Menomonee Falls - I have been here once after Brewers Opening Day and I remember the burger to be excellent!

10/17 - First Watch Brookfield - Love this place - I think of it at a healthy version of Perkins....not that Perkins is really bad for you, but First Watch makes protein and fiber loaded breakfasts with a focus on health. The fruit filled crepes are one of my favorites. Maybe I'll call ahead and drive there before work??

Hope you can support United Way in Waukesha County by enjoying a meal at one of these fine places!

United We Dine Begins

The United Way in Waukesha County has started it's third year of the United We Dine program. How the program works is that local area restaurants join forces with United Way in Waukesha County to donate part of their proceeds on a selected day to the organization. This year the program has expanded to run thru December!

I participated last year by specifically choosing to go to certain places on certain days just to support the United Way in Waukesha County. And yes, I am specifically writing out their full name each time because the proceeds of United We Dine go directly to the Waukesha County affiliate of United Way. The money stays here folks!

On top of the select restaurant featured each day, Moe's Southwest Grill in Pewaukee is donating 20% of all the catering orders received in October to United Way in Waukesha County. (One catch - you must mention United Way when placing the order!) If you haven't eaten at Moe's, definitely check it out and then consider it for a catered event later this month :)

So let's break down these places to get you more familiar with them. For the full schedule in a nice neat form, click here.

10/3 - Moe's Southwest Grill (Pewaukee) - They catered the Hospitality Tent at the Waukesha County Fair this year for one of the Main Stage shows and the chicken was so flavorful and delicious.

10/4 - Double D's Pub & Eatery (Mukwonago) - Small bar with great food and fun bartenders.

10/7 - Sprizzo's (Waukesha) - I am a regular here - the sandwiches are excellent and I love the dill mayo!

10/8 - Gyro's West (Waukesha) - Another staple in Waukesha with a delicious gyro and taziki sauce

10/9 & 10/16 - Armeli's Restaurant (New Berlin) - My family used to have all its get togethers here. Great pizza

10/11, 10/18 & 10/25 - Cafe Esperanza (Waukesha) - I was only here for a catered holiday party but the food was really tasty.

10/15 - Nashotah Clubhouse (Nashotah) - sorry, I know nothing about this place.

United We Dine - Waukesha County

A few years ago, I was asked to join the Marketing Committee for the United Way in Waukesha County. I wasn't very familiar with the organization when I began so a lot of discussions were not being absorbed. But after two years, I understand the organization and enjoy my time on the committee. We provide marketing support (on every level), suggestions and industry insights.

Recently, United Way in Waukesha County announced its fundraising initiative "Strive for 5" which is raising $5 million and recruiting 500 volunteers. You can read the announcement here. This new program helps donors realize that it's not just a single annual transaction, but an ongoing transaction with United Way in Waukesha County to help them provide the support to the organizations.

At my last meeting, we were informed that the United We Dine program was continuing this year as a fundraiser for the orgazniation and we were provided a list of the restaurants involved. And because it is food and restaurant related, I am super excited about this program.

The program details: United Way in Waukesha County works with the business to pick a day or two to offer its promotion. The business of the day provides a portion of its sales to United Way in Waukesha County. Each businesses' donation is slightly different, but all are very beneficial to United Way.

The complete list of participating businesses is on the United Way in Waukesha County website, and if you aren't familiar with all of them, let me provide you some insight below of some of these restaurants that I have been to. I looked back in my posts and realized even the restaurants that I have gone to, I have't written about them in a while. Time to get eating and blogging :)

I apologize that it is already well into October, and I am just writing about this now, but the program goes through Nov. 28. So you have plenty of time to visit a favorite or try a new restaurant and donate to United Way in Waukesha County at the same time.

Cafe de Esperanza - Waukesha -  Oct.12, & 19
We had our holiday party here a few years back and the food was authentic cuisine with great flavor. Definitely worth a stop - and really helping two organizations at once.

Hardee's - Waukesha - Oct. 9, 30 & Nov. 13
There aren't many of these left in the state, but I love their side salad. It comes with so many toppings, its a meal in itself and shouldn't be called a side salad.

Buffalo Wild Wings - Pewaukee  - Oct. 10
I love the parmesan garlic sauce on my wings and the buffalitos are pretty good too! You can play trivia and other games against your friends too!

Cafe de Arts Roastery - Waukesha (Purple House on St. Paul) - Oct. 22 & 29
This place is located near my job, so I know the owners very well and love everythign on the menu. Surprisingly I am not a coffee fan, but I have been told his coffee is amazing and he roasts it in house. The chicken ceasar salad and Roast Beef Panini are my favorites!

Armeli's Restaurant & Pizzeria - New Berlin - Oct. 24
This place has been a go-to for my family since I was a wee one. My dad has 10 brothers and sisters so when we have the family together, we are a massive group. The pizza and Italian dishes are excellent for large groups and small.

First Watch - Brookfield - Oct. 26
This place is only open through the lunch hour, but it is an amazing breakfast option. The food is healthy and makes my tummy happy. It's diner style, but the food comes out fast and it soooo delicious. They have a great "first watch club" as well that they email out coupons to you occasionally.

Gyros West - Waukesha - Oct. 27
Best Gyros in Waukesha County and rivals Oakland Gyros (my personal fave). But if I'm craving a gyro and good fries, this is the place to stop. They have plenty of other items as well. The president even stopped here a few years back because he heard it was so good.

Double D's Pub & Eatery - Mukwonago - Nov. 2
I have gone here for birthday parties, lunch and a fun night out. Great atmosphere, great food, fun bartenders - that's all you need right?

Alpine Lanes - Muskego - Nov. 7
This bowling alley and volleyball venue has really great food, not just typical, deep-fried bar food.

Sprizzo Gallery & Caffe - Waukesha - Nov. 12
This is the go-to for when my family wants to come visit me and have lunch together. Soup and salads will really fill you up and I love their patio.

Outback Steakhouse - Brookfield - Nov. 15
I went on a first date here years and years ago and the meal was really good, that I still remember it. Steak with shrimp on the barbee and the largest piece of cheesecake that I wish I would have split with my date (we were selfish and both got our own!)

Rochester Deli - Waukesha - Nov. 19
Voted time and time again the best Reuben in the area. I haven't had the Reuben but I have had their Rachel (reuben with turkey instead of corned beef). The salads are delicious and the daily specials are really creative. AND...you have to have a chocolate dipped peanut butter cookie - AH-MAZ-ING!

Blue Bay Restaurant - Mukwonago - Nov. 20
This is a nice family restaurant with a little bit of everything on the menu to suit anyone's taste buds.

The Chocolate Factory - Waukesha - Nov. 27
After gymnastics when I was younger, we would always come for a sandwich and ice cream. I always wanted Blue Moon, but I never could have it, so I think I remember the cookies & cream is soooo creamy.

There are many more restaurants participating in the United We Dine campaign than I have eaten at. And I really hope to share my experiences with my readers after I have dined.

Until then, Happy Eating!
